Our Cattle & Sheep

Our herd of Pedigree North Devon Cattle, the ‘Red Rubies’ was established over two decades ago. Starting with just 6 cows, we are now calving over 50 cattle a year. The cattle spend their whole life here on the farm and can be seen grazing the fields in and around Northmoor during the summer months.

At the end of 2020 we welcomed a small flock of sheep to the farm. This number has grown over the past couple of years, and this year we will be lambing just under 200 ewes, bringing us approximately 400 lambs.

We achieve the great taste associated with our beef and lamb by slowly fattening the cattle and sheep on a 100% grass diet, ensuring the meat is well marbled. The beef is then hung for 28 days allowing it to become tender and full of flavour.

Our environmental impact is at the very heart of everything we do which is why we choose to farm in a regenerative manner. Our beautiful cattle and sheep play such an important role in conservation grazing and improving the health of our soils. We partake in a number of environmental schemes, working hard to improve the environment and increase biodiversity.
